ART is NUDE

The female nude body is no stranger to the lens of Bulgarian photographer Svetlan Simov, whose photographs have been featured in the prestigious Dutch magazine NUDE.

ARTisNUDE is Svetlan’s first solo exhibition. It took him more than ten years to gather the courage to present his nude works to the public, as his attention to detail and dedication to the conceptual realization of his photographic projects go far beyond any conventional notion of perfection. The meticulous refinement of every millimeter of his images, with such precision and love, transforms the female nude body in Svetlan’s photographs into an absolute masterpiece.

For him, however, photography is a team sport: “My job is the lighting, the perspective, and the composition — everything else is in the hands of the model.”

The artist also admits that he quite literally escapes reality through his photography: “I search for beauty in an increasingly less beautiful world. I simply see enough ugly things every day, and through photography, I want to escape from them.”

Svetlan is drawn to creating cinematic narratives, particularly in portrait photography. In his nude work, he is always searching for the right location — one that creates the desired atmosphere. He shares that photographing against a plain white wall is the most challenging for him, although the exhibition does include one such image.
